Music and Movement

The perfect playlist can make anything better!

A road trip, a snow day, a workout.

Music has a way of emphasizing the loveliness of a situation. It’s timeless, universal, and crosses every cultural line. Humans NEED music. Imagine a ballet without a symphony, or your favorite movies without their soundtracks.

To stay on brand, lets talk about music and movement, together.

Did you know there’s some actual science behind the boost a good playlist can add to your workout?

In a 2012 study, Costas Karageorghis, a leading expert on the psychology of exercise music, wrote,

“One could think of music as a type of legal performance enhancing drug.”

Uh, yes please.

The study went on to explain how music can distract from fatigue, increases endurance, and even promote metabolic efficiency. Whether its a sweaty sculpt class, or a soothing slow flow yoga session, we’re into the science of music and movement.

Ever been to a class and the teachers playlist was just spot on? Same! We’ll be adding and sharing some playlists that you hear in class to our Spotify - so you can take them with you!
